John V. Dwyer, Jr.

With deep and profound sadness, we must report that our friend, colleague and partner, John V. “Jack” Dwyer, Jr., passed away on April 8, 2013 at the age of 66. Jack, as he was known to almost everyone, was a peerless lawyer who was widely regarded as regionally preeminent in the area of environmental law. Over the past thirty years, Jack took a leading role in virtually every significant environmental matter that arose in New Hampshire. His profound analytical skills, strategic vision, keen sense of humor and gentle charm were his greatest attributes as an advocate and earned Jack universal respect from his colleagues, clients and adversaries as well as the bench and regulators with whom he interacted.

Notwithstanding Jack’s ascension to the highest levels of his profession, Jack always reserved his most important time and energy for his family and friends. He was also known to “occasionally” attend football, basketball and hockey games at Boston College, his beloved alma mater. In the midst of all of this, Jack gave significant time to the community, most notably as a member of the boards of the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and the New Hampshire Judicial Selection Committee.

A wake for Jack will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St, Nashua, NH. A funeral Mass will take place on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St John Neumann Roman Catholic Church, 708 Milford Rd., Merrimack, NH. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial donation in Jack’s memory to Community Hospice House Development Office, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054.

In order to allow all of Jack’s colleagues to attend and to honor Jack’s memory, our offices will be closed on Friday, April 12, 2013.
