Confessions of a Personal Injury Lawyer: Small Cases

To properly prepare and try a relatively basic personal injury case involves something in the range of $25,000.00 worth of work.  The means that if the case is worth less than $75,000.00 it will likely cost my office more than we will be paid. Many of our clients have cases which have a value under $75,000.00.  Obviously, there are limits to doing business under those terms. Reasonable settlement of such cases is ideally a viable option. From a business standpoint, what makes that situation sustainable are those occasional cases where the outcome allows you to catch up.  But the fact of the matter is that it is sometimes necessary to fight for a client simply because it is the right thing to do.  We need to do what we can to keep faith with the simple proposition that one who has been wrongfully harmed by another should be fairly paid for the losses suffered.
