The Enforcement of our Safety Rules Makes for a Safer Community

We recently successfully concluded a case for a client who was seriously injured when his car was broadsided by a speeding police cruiser.  At the time of the crash, our client was driving through an intersection with a green light.  The cruiser was going through the intersection against a red light.  Two seconds before the crash, the cruiser was traveling at over 70 miles an hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.

The $900,000.00 settlement was important to our client because it compensated him for many of the financial losses and personal harms he was caused by the fault of someone else. The settlement was also significant in a broader sense because it was the successful enforcement of an important safety rule.

Our law exempts emergency vehicles from the normal rules of the road, but that same law obligates the drivers of emergency vehicles to drive with due regard for the safety of the public.

The enforcement of that rule makes our streets safer for all of us.
